Good to know

Before you pass the gates

How long does a visit take?

Allow an hour for the garden walks — or a full morning if you linger by the lake as Queen Amélia did.

Can I go inside the palace?

No — the palace remains closed while restoration continues. Your ticket is for the garden, which also holds the best views of the façade, the galilé and the blue cartouches.

Is the garden accessible?

The main walks are step-free; some of the upper paths to the castle view are steep and cobbled.

Can I buy tickets at the gate?

Yes, while daily capacity lasts. Online booking guarantees your entry time — weekends in Sintra sell out.

Are photographs allowed?

Everywhere outdoors, as much as you like. Tripods need a permit from the ticket desk.
